About Image Rotator Online

This tool rotates images by 90, 180, or 270 degrees, or by any custom angle. It can also flip images horizontally (mirror) or vertically. Use it to fix sideways scans, photos taken with rotated phones, or to create deliberately oriented variants for design work.

Most cameras and phones write rotation metadata (EXIF orientation) so the photo displays correctly. But not all software reads EXIF, and some workflows strip metadata — leaving the pixels themselves in the wrong orientation. This tool actually re-orients the pixel data, fixing the issue at the source.

Lossless rotation for JPEGs by 90/180/270 degrees preserves quality exactly. Arbitrary angles or PNG output uses high-quality resampling.

How to use this tool

How to rotate an image

  1. Upload your image

Drop the file into the Image field. Sharp reads JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, and more.

  2. Set the rotation angle

"Rotation (degrees)" accepts -7200 to 7200 (positive = clockwise). The form snaps values that are within 0.05° of 90/180/270 to those exact angles.

  3. Multiples of 90° vs free rotation

At 90°/180°/270° the image rotates losslessly with no padding. Any other angle pads the new bounding box with solid white (R 255, G 255, B 255). Use multiples of 90 when you can to avoid white wedges.

  4. Press Run

Output is a JPEG at quality 92. Reset the angle to 0 to undo any prior rotation EXIF the camera embedded, then re-rotate to the orientation you want.
